musixvbm - Vector Beams (formerly musixtpb)

Preamble and Objective

MusiXTeX draws beams and crescendos/decrescendos with patchwork of fonts. It guarantees compatibilities upon ALL TeX systems and dvi viewers. However, it may lead to a bit bumpy appearance.

This package provides smooth beams and crescendos/decrescendos by means of vector drawing: tpic \special's or pdfTeX raw literals.

Example

(a) Normal MusiXTeX (by font patchwork) ... there's a bump.


(b) With this package ... smooth.

Notice

[2021/05/23] In case of use with dvips, add option -e 0 to dvips command line to improve alignment of stems. This option -e 0 does not affect to vectorized beams but it disables dvips implicit drifts of all the TeX elements (characters, rules and so on). It is quite effective to legacy font-based beams.
